PM Defence Signs Strategic Technology Transfer MoU with Malaysia’s Ministry of Defence at LIMA 2025

Empowering Malaysia’s Defence Industry Through Technology Transfer and Localisation

Langkawi, 22 May 2025 – PM Defence Sdn Bhd has achieved a significant milestone at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA '25) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Defence Malaysia to facilitate the transfer of advanced defence technology from its international partners, DASAL (Türkiye) and HawkEye 360 (USA).

The MoU formalises a strategic collaboration that will support Malaysia’s defence modernisation efforts through local capacity-building and technology localisation. This agreement is part of PM Defence’s continued commitment to strengthen national defence capabilities and develop sovereign technological expertise.

This latest MoU builds upon the earlier understanding signed in Ankara, Türkiye, on 10 June 2024, which was witnessed by the Minister of Defence Malaysia, YB Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. It marks a key step forward in realising the long-term defence cooperation between PM Defence, DASAL, and HawkEye 360.

The collaboration focuses on unmanned aerial systems (UAS), radio frequency (RF) geospatial intelligence, and advanced surveillance technology, positioning Malaysia at the forefront of regional defence innovation.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, a representative of PM Defence stated: "We are proud to play a role in enhancing Malaysia’s defence readiness and resilience. By bringing world-class technologies from Türkiye and the United States into our ecosystem, we aim to contribute meaningfully to national security while nurturing local defence expertise."

The signing event at LIMA 2025 reflects Malaysia’s strategic vision to expand international defence partnerships and empower local industry players in the defence supply chain.
